Xylem has released the new YSI EXO advanced water quality monitoring platform, combining ‘ready-to-go’ wireless communication and upgraded features, to reveal the next generation of water monitoring technology.
Advanced features of the EXO data collection range include sensor auto-recognition and setup, biofouling protection, assisted calibration and Smart QC technology that automatically detects faults and errors to ensure successful deployments.
The EXO range is suitable for all water bodies including surface, estuary, ground and sea, due to its welded titanium sensors and high-impact body that is built for both high pressure and depths to 250 meters.
The EXO range comes in two sonde instruments, the EXO1 and EXO2, which both have a battery life for up to 90 days, depending on temperature and environment conditions.
The EXO1 Sonde is the smaller of the two, weighing 1.42kg with 4 sensor ports. The EXO2 Sonde weighs 3.6kg with a total of 7 sensor ports available.
Each Sonde has the ability to accurately detect the present concentration of algae, as part of its total algae sensor. This includes Blue-green Algae Phycocyanin (PC) and Blue-green Algae Phycoerythrin (PE) as well as Chlorophyll.
- For PC with a range of 0 to 100 RFU; 0 to 100 μg/L PC, the platform has an accuracy of R2 > 0.999 for serial dilution of Rhodamine WT solution from 0 to 100 μg/mL PC equivalents.
- For PE with a range of 0 to 100 RFU; 0 to 280 μg/L PE, the platform has an accuracy of R2 > 0.999 for serial dilution of Rhodamine WT solution from 0 to 280 μg/mL PE equivalents.
- For Chlorophyll with a range of 0 to 400 μg/L Chl; 0 to 100 RFU, the platform has an accuracy of R2 > 0.999 for serial dilution of Rhodamine WT solution from 0 to 400 μg/L Chl equivalents.
